Documenting the Voices of Children
February 24, 2017
In call and response, there's a relationship that we have with each other.
-Ella Jenkins, "The First Lady of Children's Folk Song"

The "Voices of Children" project is an excellent example of the founding belief of the World Forum Foundation that when you bring creative and committed people from diverse communities together great things will happen. The project was conceived at the 2012 World Forum Working Group meeting in Norway, when a group of educators, social scientists, filmmakers, and advocates embarked on a journey to document children’s perspectives on their rights.

This project has become much more than the creation of a compelling documentary. As teams of global educators and videographers traveled (at their own expense and with local and international funding) to Asia, Africa, South America, and North America, working together and with local teachers, a profound understanding of how to listen to and honor children’s thoughts and ideas emerged. Schools that participated were changed. Educators who were part of the planning and logistics teams were changed. A powerful tool is being created that will effectively demonstrate children’s deep understanding of what connects us all as human beings.

To get a glimpse into the heart of this exciting project, please take a few minutes to view this introductory video.

Donate to "Voices of Children"

Please consider making a donation to support this life-affirming, life-changing endeavor. Right now the “Voices of Children” team is seeking $6,000 to complete a video documentary to be premiered at the 2017 World Forum in New Zealand and then widely disseminated through the World Forum Foundation’s global network. Any funds raised above that amount will be used to conduct the next wave of work associated with the project, including a photo essay book and making of the documentary film.
