Training Outcomes:

  1. Teachers will identify four research-based strategies for helping children deal with over-stimulation or under-stimulation in classroom settings.
  2. Teachers will evaluate the visual images in their classrooms and make recommendations for positive changes.
  3. Teachers will identify topics that they would enjoy investigating together with children.
  4. Teachers will demonstrate an understanding of how to use purposeful body movement and connections with nature as ways to channel children’s energy in positive directions.

These training outcomes address the following:

  • A-10, B4b, B4c, B7a, B7e, and C9b of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998).
  • Standard 1, 2, 4a, 4b, and 4d of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level (NAEYC, 2003).
  • 1304.21(c)(1)(ii), 1301.21(c)(1)(vii)(3), and 1304.40 (e)(3) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register, Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
