EVEN MORE MYSTERY FAVORITES

In 2002 we discovered that many ExchangeEveryDay readers are also mystery readers.  Jerry Parr from Mississippi even explained the phenomena:

"The reason we love mysteries is that we deal with them every day . . . How do our kids become so resilient? How do our paychecks manage to cover all the bills? How did our budget expand to last to the last quarter? Maybe we should forego Columbus Day for Columbo Day . . . gotta run . . . there's a toddler crying and I gotta find out whodunnit."

So I am back with my latest mystery favorites and invite you to share yours:

Leonardo's Bicycle by Paco Ignacio Taibo II.  This Mexican writer never fails to delight with this story pulling together DaVinci, an American female basketball player, organ thieves, a CIA agent from Vietnam, and a reporter in the Spanish civil war.

The White Lioness by Henning Mankell.   A happy new discovery for me, this writer from Sweden spins a great yarn that stretches from Stockholm to Johannesburg.

The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.  This humorous combo science fiction/mystery involves the kidnapping of Jane Eyre from the pages of Bronte's novel.  

Death Understood by Claire McNab.  Australian agent goes undercover in an ultraconservative think tank with designs on taking over the Australian government.

About the Author by John Colapinto.  Cleverly written tale of a writer who steals his roommate's novel and then is faced with living the complicated lie.
