Resource on the Working Poor
July 31, 2002

"The most wasted of all days is the day when we have not laughed." —French proverb

RESOURCE ON THE WORKING POOR

The January/February 2002 issue of ChildCareActioNews (www.childcareaction.org) highlighted a very useful resource for advocates. The Poverty Despite Work Handbook from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities provides information on working poor families. Based on data from the US Census Bureau, it presents demographics and highlights problems that working poor families face, such as the lack of affordable child care. The handbook also includes 47 state-by-state tables. The book costs $5. To order, call (202) 408-1080.
