Innovative Ideas for Building Enrollment

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
Greek proverb

In the Voices: Insights from the Field DVD, Building Enrollment, Lois Mitten Rosenberry, CEO/President of Children's Discovery Centers shared two innovative ideas she has found effective in building program enrollment:

1. "After the child is enrolled, we take the child’s picture and send it to the parent in a nice frame [referencing the name of our program], believing that the parent will put his or her child's picture on the desk and it will be a time to talk with other employees about where his or child is enrolled.

2. When we opened a new child care center, we wanted community parents to see what our center looked liked inside...So we created DVDs, got a mailing list of families...and mailed out the DVDs with a cover letter inviting parents to take a look. At the end of the DVD, it said that if you bring back this DVD for a tour, we will give you free registration. It was very effective in building program enrollment."
