Anticipate Revelation

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.
Sanskrit Proverb

The engaging book, Treasures in the Thicket, presented in a unique double-paged English/Spanish format, tells the story of children working together to create a book about the animals of San Francisco. The actual book the children wrote and illustrated is included at the end of Treasures in the Thicket (which was written by Bethica Quinn, with Rosalina Rodriguez). In the foreword, Ann Pelo and Margie Carter write about the great value of the book:

“It reminds us to listen to children’s conversations and to their representational offerings with our hearts open – to anticipate revelation…Bethica contextualizes the creation of the children’s book for us, locating it as an expression of intentional, value-driven teaching. She describes this approach…as navigating ‘a thicket of opportunities and possibilities,’ guided by core convictions…that inform teachers’ decision-making about when to lead and when to follow, whether to hold back or to provoke, what resources to offer and what structure to provide.”
