Increased Emotional Intelligence

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Mahatma Gandhi

Ed.Flicks, Exchange Press’s online video service, includes short talks from popular authors on topics of great importance to the early childhood field. For example, here is an excerpt from Holly Elissa Bruno (author of Happiness is Running Through the Streets to Find You) talking about social-emotional intelligence:

“All of the studies about success in school don’t say we’re successful because of high IQ points. No, they say we’re successful when we have high emotional intelligence.” She goes on to share insights from her own experience as a child who overcame trauma, as well as wisdom gained from years of working with children and educators. She explains that honestly and courageously facing and overcoming adverse experiences aids children and adults alike in developing resilience and increased emotional intelligence.
