Observing and Celebrating Children's Thinking

I like to think of ideas as potential energy. They're really wonderful, but nothing will happen until we risk putting them into action.
Mae Jemison, First African American Woman in Space

On a recent walk, I came across this delightfully ambitious hopscotch drawn in front of a parked car on a quiet street. I was reminded of educator Ron Grady's words, "Artifacts are a child’s participation in the cultural heritage of humanity, and evidence that children have stories to tell."
What story do you see in the chalky artifact of this child's play? Share your observations and reflections in the comments!
