INSTITUTE ON OUTDOOR PLAY ENVIRONMENTS

The Center for Early Childhood Leadership at National-Louis University has announced its Fall Management Institute, "Outdoor Play Environments", taking place on September 27-28, 2002 in Wheeling, Illinois. Guest trainers Vicki L. Stoeklin of the White Hutchinson Leisure and Learning Group and Donna Thompson of the National Program for Playground Safety will present two full days of useful ideas for transforming outdoor play space at child care centers. Topics to be addressed include: understanding the design process, budgets for outdoor construction or renovation, using nature as an integral element of the outdoor play enviroment, training and supporting staff in outdoor play supervision, complying with the ADA, and evaluating outdoor space and equipment safety hazards.
