Dear Exchange Community,
In response to these challenging times, the latest Exchange magazine was created as a special issue called “Courageous Leadership.” In addition to introducing the newest members of the Exchange Leadership Initiative, we also asked a diverse group of people throughout the early childhood field what courageous leadership means to them. I was touched by the wisdom, inspiration and practical advice shared. It reconfirmed my admiration for our field.
One of the writers in the issue, Cecilia Scott-Croff, made the point that everyone working in early education can provide leadership in some way right now. Here’s how she expressed her appreciation:
“I find healing in your leadership. As an ECE community, we are an eclectic bunch, yet we are aligned in our commitment to families and children. Many of you have endured crippling loss, yet all of you have continued to rise to every occasion. As a leader, I take great courage in our community’s endurance. I also draw strength from my native New Yorker roots. I have the heart of a lion and the soul of a hustler. That is the strength I am calling upon. I know our community will be back together soon, and stronger. Until then, let us lead fiercely, unapologetically, and courageously.”
To continue to support you in the way you most need it, watch for a survey we will be sending out later this week. Also, if you are not currently a subscriber to Exchange magazine, we are providing a large discount right now to help you purchase the combination package. This will let you still access the Courageous Leadership issue digitally, since many have asked to be able to do so. Everyone on our team hopes you will find encouragement there for the road ahead.
